I’m sure you know how competitive the freelance job market can be, but what if I told you there was a new range of freelance gigs that don’t require much experience?
Artificial Intelligence tools are becoming so easily accessible that new freelance opportunities are popping up all the time.
The beauty of these tools is that only a small percentage of us have figured out how easy these tools are to use – the majority of people still think AI is witchcraft.
This makes for great freelancing opportunities.
In this article, we’ll take a look at 7 AI Freelance jobs you can start leveraging today!
What are the 7 AI Freelance Jobs?
Let’s cut to the chase, what are the 7 best AI freelance gigs?
- 1. Image Generation and Editing
- 2. Tutoring and Training
- 3. AIO (AI Writing)
- 4. Website Building
- 5. Marketing & Ad Copy
- 6. Voice Cloning and Music
- 7. Short Form Content
Some of the best AI jobs on the market require little to no skills, and there are a specific number of roles perfectly suited to Freelancers. Let’s take a closer look at the 10 best AI freelance jobs.
1. Image Generation and Editing
If you’ve used the internet in the last few months you’re probably already familiar with AI-generated art.
AI image generation is a great way to dip your toes into your first AI freelancing job. It’s easy to get started and it’s fun too!
Using machine learning algorithms, AI image generators take a text input from the user and turn it into high-quality media.
The trick here is being able to command the AI to get exactly what you want – this is known as prompt engineering.
The beauty of these tools is the wide range of free resources that are already available, making money selling AI art has never been easier!
Here’s a few of my favorite ways to freelance with artificial intelligence image tools:
- Sell Your Prompts: Create unique and interesting imagery and people will pay you to find out the correct string of words you used. Websites like Promptbase and Prompthero allow you to upload and sell your best prompts.
- Advertise on Freelance Marketplaces: Fiverr, Upwork, and other freelance marketplaces already have dedicated sections for AI services. Showcase your best AI images and generate some fast income.
- Sell Books Using Amazon KDP: Yep! People are generating kids’ stories by combining AI language tools and AI image generators. Some of these creators are making thousands of dollars using Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and AI!
- Image Editing: Removing or adding an item to an image is simple with tools like Adobe Firefly’s Generative Fill, which is making the barrier to entry for Photoshop incredibly low.
The above list is far from exhaustive. Other ideas include logo generation for businesses, images for print-on-demand, NFT projects, even AI QR codes!
If you’re looking to dive into AI art generation consider Midjourney first (my personal favorite), or Leonardo.AI.
If you’re tech savvy you can even install Stable Diffusion – which is a totally free open source AI image generator that leverages machine learning capabilities to run locally on your machine.
The only limit to what you can do with AI art is your imagination!
2. Tutoring and Training
Artificial Intelligence is fast becoming a part of our everyday lives and there’s a growing demand for people who can help others understand and make use of it.
Tutoring and training is emerging as a great way for freelancers to leverage their skill set using AI technologies.
Here’s a few ways you can get started with AI tutoring and training:
Fundamentals Training: Develop customized courses that explain basic AI concepts and applications. Cater your courses to beginners that way the content is easy for you to put together. Include neural networks, machine learning, computer vision, web development, and data science fundamentals too.
AI Mastery Courses: Let’s say you got really good at one of the image generation tools we talked about in step 1. Why not offer a tailor-made course teaching others how to master it for a fixed price?
Institutional Training: As AI gains wider adoption companies will be looking to upskill their workers as easily as possible. Offer a corporate-level AI onboarding service for tools like ChatGPT.
As a freelance AI consultant, you don’t even have to be highly skilled or a world-class expert.
Just stay a few steps ahead of the average Joe and you’ll be in a great position to teach and guide others!
3. AIO (AI Writing)
Artificial Intelligence Optimization (AIO) is an emerging term that describes the use of AI to write articles with minimum input from the human author.
AIO relies on using AI for an initial draft which the writer refines with a human touch before publishing.
This human touch includes cutting out any fluff or filler content, optimizing for readability and SEO, incorporating images, adding appropriate internal and external links, ensuring factual accuracy, and fine-tuning the tone to align with an existing author or desired style.
Creating content in this manner saves a significant amount of time and this is where the savvy freelancer can make some serious money using AIO.
By adopting AIO you’re able to offer writing services to your target audience much cheaper than writers who don’t. And provided you nail the human touch part, the quality will be the same.
Implementing AI in the right way with your writing can save you heaps of time while still retaining originality and authenticity.
4. Website Building
Web development is another area where artificial intelligence jobs are making an impact.
Websites are just an assembly of basic code with some nice images and as it turns out, you don’t have to be an expert software engineer to build them with AI.
AI and deep learning are enabling even those with minimal coding expertise to craft websites in a matter of seconds.
You could customize your website building services by offering AIO content with your website building too.
If you really wanted to get fancy, you could leverage natural language processing and add an AI chatbot to your premium services!
While AI web development might not be for every freelancer, it’s absolutely worth looking into for anyone with project objectives in the space.
5. Marketing & Ad Copy
Did you know, way back in 2018 A study of over 400 targeted applications concluded that marketing was the space where AI would contribute the greatest value?
Using artificial intelligence in marketing and ad copy creation can open up a realm of possible artificial intelligence jobs.
Using machine learning and data analysis, consumer preferences and behaviors can be analyzed in real-time. The AI can even be used to predict future actions.
AI can create highly targeted and personalized ad copies that connect with the intended audience.
AI can also be used to create engaging video marketing content from as little as a text input (more on that in section 7).
Freelancers that integrate AI-driven marketing services and ad-copy will have an edge over any competitor who chooses not to leverage these tools.
Leverage AI in your next social media or ads campaign and add to your bottom line!
6. Voice Cloning and Music
Have you seen how much good freelance voice actors make? It’s a lot!
Voice cloning tools allow us to feed some dialogue into a machine-learning algorithm, and after not long we have an artificial intelligence-powered voice actor that can say anything we want.
You might have a picture in your head of AI voices sounding like Alexa and Siri, well forget that!
Tools like Eleven Labs‘ voice synthesizers are getting good… like really good.
Here’s a few way you could leverage voice cloning:
Clone Yourself: Throw your mic away! If you’re already voice acting, cloning yourself could save time and effort.
Create a Library: Find a bunch of unique and pleasing voices for cloning and create a range of voices the customer can choose from.
Use Celebrities: This one is pretty straightforward, imagine being able to feature any celebrity you wanted on your next ad or YouTube video.
Now I have to say it, you need to use these tools responsibly.
To help prevent deepfakes, Eleven Labs have released an AI speech classifier that can be used to detect whether an audio clip was created using their tool (that’s how good they’re getting).
As far as I can tell people can’t copyright their own voices… yet.
Voice cloning is in its infancy so get creative and see how you might be able to monetize this tech.
Another emerging trend is using AI to generate music videos and cover songs which has gained massive popularity on social media due to the unique compilations that AI can help creators and freelancers generate.
7. Short Form Content
If you consume short-form content in the form of TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube shorts, you might have noticed AI-generated content by now.
AI-powered video tools use natural language processing to turn scripts into sales videos, blog posts into engaging shorts, and long-form videos into engaging clips.
Other tools like Runway’s Gen-2 can generate custom short scenes from nothing but a text input, it’s actually incredible watching this progress.
So if you’re a freelancer trying to grow a brand or simply just looking to make some ad revenue with short-form content, give AI text-to-video tools a try.
What Is an AI Freelance Job?
An AI freelance job involves an individual leveraging their expertise in artificial intelligence to work on projects for various clients without being tethered to a single employer – it’s basically a normal freelance gig that leverages AI!
This kind of work can encompass a wide range of tasks depending on specific project aims such as building machine learning models, developing chatbots, data analytics, or providing AI consulting services.
Freelancers in AI typically have the flexibility to work independently and choose projects that align with their skills and interests.

Do AI Freelance Jobs Require Experience?
The good news is you don’t need to be a data science expert or a machine learning engineer! AI freelance jobs do require experience but not as much as you might think.
Being such a cutting-edge industry, a lot of people working freelance artificial intelligence jobs would only be a few months ahead of someone with no skills – so no, you don’t need a degree in computer science.
This is great news for any freelancer because it means you can add a bunch of brand-new skills to your freelance toolkit, and people are paying big money for these skills.
Sure, there are some AI jobs that require an advanced technical skillset, but the vast majority of skills needed can be learned relatively quickly.
What skills are needed for AI Freelance Jobs?
The best skills for AI freelance jobs are of course a basic understanding of AI concepts and the tools available. Keeping your technical skills polished and having the ability to adapt to evolving technologies gives you an advantage too. Good communication skills will also come in handy for client interactions and prompt engineering.
