Hi! I’m Matt – the owner and lead editor here at Rareconnections.

On this site, you’ll find Artificial Intelligence reviews, how-tos, and technical articles all hand-written by me and a small team of dedicated writers.

While I love AI and frequently use it in my workflow, I don’t love mass produced surface level AI content that doesn’t offer real value to my readers.

I love getting my hands dirty.

You’ll notice in all the reviews on this site, I pay for and actually use the tools being reviewed so I can give you the real pros, cons, and actionable insights.

So, Who Am I?

Funnily enough, I started my career as an apprentice welder/fabricator at the Gold Coast City Marina in Australia after moving here from Townsville in North Queensland.

This was me modifying a stainless steel rail on a multi-million dollar superyacht before transitioning to Engineering.

Welding on boats wasn’t always the best fun.

After completing my apprenticeship and working in the trade for a while, I realized I had two options:

  1. Start a fabrication business
  2. Go to University

At the time I didn’t have much of a desire to start a business. I’ve always loved getting my hands dirty and had always been pretty good at Math, so I decided to study Mechanical Engineering.

Getting my hands dirty.
I’ve always loved late 80s/early 90s Nissans – particularly Silvias.

After completing my degree with Honors, I landed my first Engineering job at Australia’s first and only orbital rocket company – yep, I was a rocket scientist. 😁

In my new role as a Propulsion Engineer, I was tasked with the mechanical design, integration, manufacture, and testing of a 400kW electric Hydrogen Peroxide turbopump for the rocket.

After 4 long years of work, often clocking more than 60 or 70 hours a week, and blowing lots of things up along the way – the pump worked and was successfully used on Australia’s first orbital class Hybrid rocket engine. 👇

Watch until the end – It explodes a little bit. 🙂

This was all around the time ChatGPT 3 became publicly available, and I saw the massive implications of this right away.

I decided to take a risk.

I sold some investments, quit my Engineering job, and went all in on AI and Rareconnections.

It’s been one of the scariest, yet fulfilling experiences of my life. I’d recommend it to anyone with a passion – work won’t miss you, so follow your dream!

Let’s work together!
